Reading Materials:
In Week 3, Mr Martin provided us some tutorial materials to improve our understanding in storyboard.
Storyboard in filmmaking is a visual representation of a film, animation, or video game, much like a comic strip. It's made up of a series of illustrations or images displayed in sequence for the purpose of pre-visualising a motion picture, animation, motion graphic or interactive media sequence.
Storyboards are used to plan shots, understand the narrative flow, and to communicate ideas to the production team. They can include details such as camera angles, character movements, dialogue, and even notes about special effects or sound. This helps the director, cinematographer, and other crew members visualise the scenes and prepare for the shooting process.
Storyboarding is a crucial part of the pre-production process because it allows filmmakers to experiment with different visual approaches, identify potential problems, and make necessary adjustments before the actual filming begins, saving time and resources.

Production stages
The production stages in filmmaking can be broken down into three main phases: pre-production, production, and post-production. Here's a brief overview of each stage:
1.Pre-production: This is the planning stage of filmmaking, where all the necessary preparations are made before filming begins. This includes tasks such as writing the script, creating storyboards, casting actors, scouting locations, designing sets and costumes, and hiring crew members.
2.Production: This is the stage where the actual filming takes place. The production team will work together to capture all the footage needed for the film, using the plans and preparations made during pre-production as a guide. This stage can be physically and logistically challenging, as it involves coordinating a large team of people and managing a complex schedule.
3.Post-production: This is the stage where the footage is edited and assembled into a final product. This includes tasks such as cutting and arranging scenes, adding music and sound effects, color grading, and visual effects. Post-production can be a time-consuming process, as it requires careful attention to detail and a keen eye for storytelling.
After post-production, the film may go through additional stages such as distribution and marketing, but these are not considered part of the production process.

Production Crew:
The production crew is a team of professionals who work together to create a film or video. Each member of the crew has a specific role and set of responsibilities, which are essential to the overall success of the production. Here are some of the key production crew members and their tasks:
1.Director: The director is responsible for overseeing the entire production and ensuring that the creative vision for the project is realized. They work closely with the cast and crew to block out scenes, direct the actors' performances, and make creative decisions about the look and feel of the film.
2.Producer: The producer is responsible for the logistical and financial aspects of the production. They secure funding, hire the crew, coordinate the schedule and locations, and ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget.
3.Cinematographer: The cinematographer, also known as the director of photography (DP), is responsible for the visual aesthetic of the film. They work closely with the director to choose the right camera, lenses, and lighting to achieve the desired look and mood for each scene.
4.Production Designer: The production designer is responsible for the overall visual design of the film, including the sets, costumes, and props. They work closely with the director and cinematographer to create a cohesive and immersive visual world for the story.
5.Sound Designer: The sound designer is responsible for the audio aspects of the film, including recording and editing dialogue, sound effects, and music. They work closely with the director and editor to ensure that the sound and picture are seamlessly integrated.
6.Editor: The editor is responsible for assembling the footage into a coherent and compelling story. They work closely with the director and sound designer to shape the pacing, tone, and structure of the film.
There are many other roles on a production crew, including grips, gaffers, makeup artists, and stunt coordinators, but these are some of the key positions and tasks involved in the filmmaking process.

PROJECT 1: SOUND DUBBING
Week 3
For the first part of project 1, we started with sound dubbing.
Spreadsheet:
Spreadsheet Breakdown
Recording Footage:
After recording through my phone I download all the recording into the computer to let me more convenient to import into Adobe Premium Pro.
Week 4
Process:
Step 1: Import video clip and voice recording into Adobe Premium Pro.
Step 2: Insert the sound recording according the lip syncing.
Step 3: Insert audio effect Pitch Shifter and Semi Tones to adjust the pitch of my voice. Waymong voice I lower the semi tones so that the voice will be like male sound. Beside that, Derdier voice I adjust higher tones and Evelyb voice I maintain the original voiceover sound.
Step 4: I also insert the sound effect.
Result:
This is the result of my Project 1 sound dubbing.
Project 1A Sound Dubbing
Project 1B Sound Shaping
For this exercise, we are instructed to record a short audio of us speaking and shape it into multiple different sounds using Adobe Audition. To create various voice effects using Adobe Audition.
Voice of Phone Call
1. Import Audio into Adobe Audition.
2. I apply FFT Filter: Go to `Effects` > `Filter and EQ` > `FFT Filter`. Choose the preset `Telephone Receiver`.
3. I adjust Equalizer: Adjust the equalizer settings to fine-tune the effect.
Voice Coming from Inside a Closet
1. Import Audio into Adobe Audition.
2. I go to `Effects` > `Reverb` > `Studio Reverb`. Choose a small room or closet preset.
3. I use `Effects` > `Filter and EQ` > `Parametric Equalizer`. L(40Hz), 1(134Hz), 2(247hz), 3(845Hz), 4(3321Hz), 5(12800Hz), H(18000Hz) the high frequencies to give a muffled effect.
Voice of Toilet/Bathroom
1. Import Audio into Adobe Audition.
2. Apply Reverb: Go to `Effects` > `Reverb` . Choose room ambience that simulates a bathroom environment.
3. I adjusted the decay time to 1900m/s > pre delay time to 10m/s > diffusion to 585m/s > perception to 60.
Underground Cave Voice
1. Import Audio into Adobe Audition.
2. Apply Reverb: Go to `Effects` > `Reverb` > `Studio Reverb` and choose a large space or cave preset.
3. I used back reverb sound effect, but under rack effect I used ethereal voice.
4. The decay time I adjusted to 4300ms, The pre-delay was adjusted to 200ms to introduce a slight delay before the echo starts, which adds depth. The diffusion set it to 2850ms and perception to 80%, which makes the echo sound more reflective and expansive. This setup helps create a realistic underground cave ambiance.
Alien/Orc Voice
1. Import Audio: Open your audio file in Adobe Audition.
2. Pitch Shift: Go to `Effects` > `Time and Pitch` > `Pitch Shifter`. Lower the pitch, set the semitones to -4 and adjust the cents to -20, to create a deep, growling voice for an orc or an alien effect.
3. Add Modulation: I go to `Effects` > `Modulation` > `Flanger` >'Too Many Pills' preset because it produces a very "alien-like" sound. For this effect, I set the initial delay time to 2ms, the final delay time to 5 ms, the stereo phasing to 80 degrees, the feedback to 60%, and the modulation rate to 18 Hz.
Final Submission of Sound Shaping, Week 10 (30/6/2024)

REFLECTION
Week 3
In Week 3, Mr. Martin assigned us a group exercise. This collaborative effort allowed us to work together and share insights, fostering a sense of teamwork. We have communication and also the group work help us enhancing our understanding of the course material through peer interaction with other group member.
In Week 3, my group and I focused on an Excel sheet breakdown exercise related to Project 1. We calculated the catalogue timing and conducted research on the sound effects used in the movie, sourcing these sounds from Sound effect website and YouTube. This task sharpened our analytical skills and attention to detail, as we had to ensure precise timing and appropriate sound selection. After completing this, Mr. Martin allowed us to finish any pending Week 2 exercises. He also instructed us to prepare voice recordings for Week 4, which are essential for Project 1. He assigned the Week 3 asynchronous class quiz, helping us consolidate our knowledge and stay on track with the course requirements.
Week 4
In Week 4, Mr. Martin let us work on our Sound Dubbing project. We need to combine the sound effects we had previously found with our own voice dubbing, editing all these audio into the given video clip. During this process, I learned how to use Audio Effects such as Pitch Shifter and Semi Tones to adjust the pitch of my voice, allowing me to create distinct voices for different characters in Project 1. This hands-on activity was challenging yet rewarding, as it required us to synchronize our dubbed voices and sound effects accurately to enhance the video’s overall impact. This exercise significantly improved our audio editing skills, like pitch adjustment, has not only enhanced the quality of our projects but also expanded our technical proficiency in audio editing.
In addition, Mr. Martin reminded us to update our blogs, emphasizing the importance of documenting our progress and reflections on the project. He also list out clearly what content he want in the blog. He announced the submission due dates for both Project 1 Sound Dubbing and blog, ensuring we had a clear timeline to follow. This announcement helped us manage our time effectively to finish our tasks by the deadlines.
