TASK3-TYPE EXPLORATION AND APPLICATION

Font Idea Proposal:
Proposal Slide (19/6/2024 Week 9)

Font Idea Development:
First step I use pen tool and draw out my font.

After feedback Mr. Vinod suggested me to make it more balance. The font is not balance so I draw many guideline and adjust the font to make it more balance.
I detail and refine the letterform more.

I combine the font with shapes.
I use pathfinder unit function to make it become a proper letterform.

After feedback session I still continue adjust my font to make it more round a bit.

The other letterform I do the same action. This is Uppercase final outcome.
Small letter case is a bit not balance so I improve it more.

I reduce the wide of the line so the font is more consistent. This is lowercase final outcome.
After that, I copy paste the letterform and put it into font lab 7.

After putting the letterform into the font lab I adjust the side barring.

After adjusting all the detail this is the final outcome.

REFLECTION

Experience:
In this task we need to create a font and name it. I have choose a Korean Movie as my reference. In the process I feel a bit stress because I worry I can’t do a nice work. The first outcome is not balance so Mr. Vinod let me continue working on it. Although it is tough and hard while constructing the letterforms. I need to make every letters balance. In the process I still managed to cope with it because I want to do my best for the font. Lecturer’s feedback is important it help me improve and refine my work. I have learned a lot from this task.

Observation:
From this task, I have observed that guidelines are very important when designing a font. Every single part needs to be very careful and detail. So that the letter form can be consistent. Making sure the font looks good and consistent was harder than I thought. I used many hours to keep on adjusting my font to make it look better. Every minor changes could affect the whole visual appearance and performance, which I need to make sure everything is on the right track.

Findings:
Throughout the whole process of this task, I found out creating a font needs lots of experimentation and perseverance. I thought creating a font is just drawing letters and digitalize it only. The process of font application putting font design on different objects was really interesting. It is because can see my font straightforward on an object. Overall, I learned a lot from this task. Trying to be more creative and detailed in doing things and listening to feedback to improve my work. I learned many design techniques and skills.
